WHILE many were joyfully celebrating the start of a new year on January 1, Tracy Ngwenya (36) from Bulawayo had an entirely different experience that almost cost her life.
She was severely bashed by her lover Blessing Nyatare after he reportedly caught her in bed with another man.
This was heard when Nyatare appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube facing charges of assault.
Nyatare pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to 8 January for sentencing.
Circumstances are that, on 1 January and at around 5am, Ngwenya, had been peacefully enjoying the company of another boyfriend when Nyatare unexpectedly visited her.
Upon seeing the two in bed, it is reported that Nyatare got angry and started beating Ngwenya’s boyfriend until he managed to run away but Nyatare’s anger didn’t stop there.
He turned his attention towards Ngwenya and assaulted her several times with fists on her face and merciless kicks all over her body.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Nyatare’s arrest.
Ngwenya was taken to hospital and a medical report was brought to court as evidence.
