New York City parking spot selling for US$1m

spot on the street and park in privacy.
The New York Post points out that a driver would have to rack up a US$115 illegal parking ticket every day for 24 years before reaching the cost of this luxury garage.
“It’s for someone who wants complete privacy,” Dolly Lenz, vice chairwoman Prudential Douglas Elliman, the real estate firm representing the property, explained to the newspaper.
“You can drive in and not be seen again. It’s for the type of person who finds that attractive.
“It could be a celebrity or a business person who is camera shy.”
As sold, the US$1 million parking spot can fit just a single car. However, the real estate firm says the owner can add a car elevator to fit a second vehicle.
The parking space will most likely be sold to one of the residents of the building where it sits.
The building at 66 East 11th Street is being converted into ultra-swanky luxury condos, the priciest of which is slated to sell for US$38,8 million.
Morad Fareed, a real estate developer with ties to the Clinton Global initiative, is behind the venture, which will produce the first ‘wellness real estate’ building.
Condos are designed to tie comfort and health together with upscale 4,5m ceilings. The shower water is infused with aloe and vitamin C and each apartment is outfitted with ‘heat reflexology floor,’ the Post reports.
The development in the US$120 million building has some big names behind it, many tied to Democratic causes.
Dick Gephardt, the former House Majority leader, and Terry McAuliffe, who chaired President Bill Clinton’s re-election campaign and also ran Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential drive, both sit on the board of Delos — the company that is outfitting Mr Fareed’s building. Former Republican Sen Mel Martinez and Dr Deepak Chopra so sit on the advisory board.
The second-most expensive parking spot in New York is a sky garage that comes as part of a US$7 million condo in the Chelsea neighborhood. — Daily Mail.
