NEW: ZANU PF undergoing renewal: Muchinguri-Kashiri

ZANU PF is undergoing renewal through the recruitment of young and resourceful cadres under the astute leadership of the President and First Secretary, Cde Mnangagwa, the party’s national chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has said.

Speaking during celebrations held on Saturday at Chipinge Junior Primary School grounds in honour of Dr Paul Tungwarara’s elevation to the ZANU PF Central Committee, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri described him as one of the exceptional new breed of cadres ploughing back to their community and country.

Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri also donated rice, cooking oil, sugar, rice and mealie-meal from President Mnangagwa.

Cde Tungwarara was co-opted following a recommendation from Chipinge district after the resignation of Cde Dorothy Mabika, who was subsequently elected the Manicaland provincial chairperson.

“His indisputable philanthropic and empowerment work epitomise the President’s tenable development philosophy that ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene’.

“Our newly co-opted Central Committee member, Cde Tungwarara, possesses mouth-watering credentials, which include facilitating a high-level investment meeting of the President with Dubai billionaire, Mohamed Alabbar, in Dubai in February 2024. The billionaire is the renowned owner of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, standing in Dubai at a whopping 829,8 metres and boasting 163 floors,” said Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri.

“He facilitated a top-table meeting of the President with the world’s biggest real estate developer, Sarjarn Damack, and played a key role in attracting Africa’s wealthiest man, Mr Aliko Dangote, to meet His Excellency in November 2025 and promised to invest US$1 billion in cement manufacturing, coal mining and power generation.”

Cde Tungwarara was also hailed for championing numerous Presidential Empowerment Schemes.

These include the Presidential War Veterans Empowerment and Housing Scheme; Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme; Presidential Women’s League Empowerment Scheme; empowerment of affiliates with revolving interest-free loans; purchase of special utility vehicles for all the eight DCCs in Manicaland; and provision of US$25 000 to all ZANU PF legislators in the province.

Cde Tungwarara’s impressive track record in strategic development makes him an ideal candidate to join other leaders in driving the party and Government’s socio-economic and infrastructural development agenda in line with the National Development Strategy 2 and the attainment of Vision 2030 …”

She urged locals to be participate in tea, coffee, macadamia nuts, bananas and sugarcane production, which thrive in Chipinge district.

“The days of sloganeering are over. People want food on the table.”

Apart from being located in the Eastern Highlands bordering Mozambique, which provided escape routes for veterans of the liberation struggle, the district was also home to revolutionary luminaries like the late national hero, Cde Ndabaningi Sithole.

President Mnangagwa posthumously awarded Cde Ndabaningi Sithole national hero status in 2022, recognising his crucial role in the formation of the Zimbabwe African National Union 1963.

He also served as its President for almost a decade.

Recognising the importance of Chipinge district, the President appointed Cde Wilson Khumbula to the party’s Central Committee in 2023.

Furthermore, Chipinge Central legislator Raymore Machingura was appointed executive director of the Department of Presidential Scholarships.

In the same vein, the national launch of the 2023 ZANU PF Presidential campaign was held in the district, which is testament to the pivotal role it plays in the country’s political economy.

ZANU PF provincial chairperson Cde Tawanda Mukodza said the province was united and working on an elaborate plan to empower its members.

He said the province was fully behind Constitution Amendment (No. 3) Bill to extend President Mnangagwa’s term of office to 2030, as resolved by the party conferences in 2024 and 2025 in Bulawayo and Mutare, respectively.

Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza praised President Mnangagwa’s leadership and vision, including the proposed Constitution Amendment (No. 3) Bill, and highlighted development progress in Manicaland province.

He also commended the President’s inclusive leadership, promoting unity, peace and national security, which are crucial for sustainable development.
