Zimbabwe and South Africa have agreed to put all hands on deck to ensure that joint projects implemented under the two countries’ Bi-National Commission (BNC) are executed timeously.

Addressing delegates at the BNC’s Mid-Term Review in South Africa on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava said there was need for diligent implementation of projects under the BNC.  “South Africa is Zimbabwe’s largest trading partner as well as a source of foreign direct investment.

“She has historically enjoyed a favourable trade balance in these relations. We must continue to work together to address some enduring issues and promote mutual benefit in our trade exchanges, and the resolution of these enduring issues can only increase economic activity between our two countries,” he said.

The meeting, he added, was a precursor to the two countries’ Heads of State meeting to be held on dates to be advised.

“This Mid-Term Review meeting at ministers’ level – the first of its kind – attests to our common and shared desire to refresh and enhance our two countries’ relations in their multifaceted dimensions.”
