NEW: Zimbabwe Cricket slaps Madhevere, Mavuta with bans for drug use

ZIMBABWE senior men’s cricket players Wesley Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta have been slapped with four-month bans by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) after testing positive for a banned recreational drug in December during an in-house doping exercise.

Madhevere and Mavuta admitted to the offence when they appeared before a disciplinary hearing earlier this month.

The two have since been banned and handed a fine of a 50 percent salary deduction for the next three months.

As part of rehabilitation, the duo has been ordered to train under ZC’s High-Performance Programme.

Meanwhile, another national team player, Kevin Kasuza, has been suspended from all cricket activities pending a hearing after he also tested positive for a banned recreational drug during an in-house doping test last week.
