ZIMBABWE is among the countries attending the first edition of the Mozambique Transport and Logistics Investment Forum and Exhibition (TRANS-LOG MOZ 2026) being held on Wednesday and Thursday in Maputo, Mozambique.

The gathering brings together government officials, investors, financial institutions and sector operators from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini, Angola and Tanzania to promote investment opportunities, establish strategic partnerships and drive the development of the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure.

It is being held under the theme “From the Coast to the Corridors: Investing in Mozambique as a Regional Trade Gateway and Transit Hub”.

The Zimbabwean delegation is being led by Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona.

One of the core objectives of the forum is the upgrading of key ports like Maputo, Beira  and Nacala, expanding regional transport corridors (including the Ressano Garcia line) and advancing digitalisation, border efficiency and infrastructure financing.

According to a press release, the event aims to consolidate Mozambique’s strategic role as one of Southern Africa’s main gateways for the entry and exit of goods.

At the same time, it will strengthen regional connectivity, the competitiveness of logistics corridors and market integration.

The document states that the ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Benvinda Levi and the Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe.

Discussions will focus on the modernisation of the ports of Maputo, Beira and Nacala, the development of railway and road corridors, border efficiency, digital transformation and the financing of major infrastructure projects.

Among the initiatives to be explored are the expansion of the Port of Maputo, the modernisation of the Ressano Garcia railway line, the development of the Port of Nacala and the creation of strategic logistics platforms.
