NEW: Zimbabweans bash US for sanctions against Zimbabwe

Online Reporter

Zimbabweans have slammed the US Embassy for downplaying the impact of sanctions on Zimbabwe, saying these illegal coercive measures should be lifted entirely.

The outrage erupted when the embassy stated on its X handle that only 11 individuals, out of a population of 16 million, are under sanctions, implying that the sanctions do not affect ordinary citizens.

Yet, the reality is that the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act, the US law that imposed economic sanctions on Zimbabwe is still in existence and its punitive measures are in force.

The following screenshots capture the responses made on the embassy’s X platform today, which is the SADC Anti-Sanctions Day.
