Newborn baby dumped near Khami Prison Complex

POLICE in Bulawayo have launched an investigation after a newborn baby boy was found abandoned and covered with tree branches near the Khami Prison Complex on Wednesday.

The incident, which occurred on July 24, 2025, is being treated as a case of exposing an infant.

In a post on X, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the baby was discovered by members of the public and was immediately taken for medical assistance.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of exposing an infant, in which a newborn baby boy was found covered with tree branches near Khami Prison Complex, Bulawayo, on 24 July 2025. The baby was referred to Mpilo Hospital for further medical attention,” the police said.
