NEWLY-ELECTED Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Insiza North, Cde Delani Moyo, has pledged unity, inclusive leadership and to serve all the people of Insiza North following his by-election victory on Saturday.

The by-election was held following the death of Cde Farai Taruvinga of Zanu-PF in March, after a long battle with cancer.

Cde Moyo clinched victory with 7 171 votes, followed by Independent candidate Mr Leslie, who polled 1 187.
Zapu’s candidate Thabani Mlotshwa and ZNRP party candidate Mbongeni Moyo garnered 114 and 131 votes, respectively.

Cde Moyo said his new position was an acknowledgment of his primary identity as a member of Zanu-PF.
“I am a child of Zanu-PF and the party’s interests supersede mine. I also pledge to exercise inclusive leadership, ensuring that the concerns and needs of all residents, regardless of their political affiliation, are heard and addressed.

I promise to be an MP standing up for the people of Insiza North,” said Cde Moyo.
Cde Moyo said it was an immense privilege and honour to have been overwhelmingly voted for by the people of Insiza North.

“A special thank you to Zanu-PF cadres, including high-ranking officials and local leaders, who made strong declarations regarding the party’s impending victory.

“These include National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha, Provincial Chairperson for Matabeleland South Cde Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu, Provincial Vice-Chairperson for Matabeleland South, Comrade Albert Nguluvhe, who is also the Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, and other party officials including Cde Dingumuzi Phuthi (Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Technology), former Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Cde Abednico Ncube, Insiza South legislator Cde Spare Sithole, former Cabinet Minister Cde Andrew Langa and my family and friends.

“It’s your love and support that has made it possible for me to put everything into this campaign. This is your victory as much as it is mine,” said Cde Moyo.

Cde Moyo indicated his intention to lead with a focus on unity, stating that the victory was not only for Insiza North but also for Matabeleland South as a whole.

Cde Moyo, who pledged to uphold and advance President Mnangagwa’s “leaving no one and no place behind” development philosophy — a strategy aimed at achieving Vision 2030’s goal of an upper-middle-income economy — stated that his victory was also a result of significant developmental projects he spearheaded in the constituency during his campaign.

These projects included the Shangani Mine solar borehole system and his instrumental role in the construction of the Lumbamai network booster.

He also pledged to complete several projects started by Cde Taruvinga, emphasising that their completion was essential as they were part of the party’s broader programme.
