CHEVRONS bowler Richard Ngarava failed to make the Multan Sultans team in the final of this year’s Pakistan Super League T20 tournament, which Islamabad United won by two wickets off the last ball of a dramatic finale on Monday evening.
Multan Sultans had made 159/9 off their 20 overs while Islamabad United reached 163/8 off the final ball, hit for four off Mohammad Ali by Hunain Shah.
This meant Ngarava did not get to bowl a single ball having joined Multan Sultans as a late replacement for English seamer Olly Stone in the Multan Sultans squad early this month.
Ngarava had made one appearance for the Eagles in the Zimbabwe Domestic T20 tournament, which was eventually won by visiting Durham, before flying to Pakistan where he joined Chevrons teammates Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani.
Raza played in eight of the Lahore Qalandars’ 10 matches but could not help them much as they finished bottom of the league with just one win.
The Chevrons T20 skipper and all-rounder claimed three wickets and scored 91 runs in the disappointing campaign. Muzarabani took six wickets in five matches for Karachi Kings who finished fifth in the six-team league after winning four of their 10 matches.
Karachi Kings and the Lahore Qalanders were eliminated at the end of the group phase.
