NGEZI Platinum Stars are hoping to finish the season on a high as they chase a top four finish and look to improve on last year’s points tally.

The Mhondoro-based side currently sits third and will travel to Luveve tomorrow to face Bulawayo Chiefs hoping to build on their win over Highlanders and extend their unbeaten run to six league matches.

With four games left, Ngezi have collected 52 points from 30 matches, winning 13, drawing 13 and losing four.

They need just four more points to beat the 55 they managed last season, when they finished fourth after winning 14 games, drawing 13 and losing seven.

Coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva believes the win over Highlanders has given his team a timely boost as they enter the final stretch of the season.

“The positive result against Highlanders boosts our morale and confidence ahead of our trip to Bulawayo. We need to achieve our objective of finishing in the top four, and this gives us a positive mindset going into the encounter,” he said.

Ngezi will be encouraged by their recent form having gone for five league games without tasting defeat. In contrast, Bulawayo Chiefs have managed just one win in their last five matches, losing three and drawing once.

However, Mutiwekuziva knows his team will have to work hard to collect maximum points away from home, despite winning the reverse fixture.

“We are confident as we go to play against Bulawayo Chiefs, especially having won the reverse fixture at home, but it will not be an easy game facing them in their own backyard,” he added.

After the trip to Bulawayo, Ngezi will host Dynamos at Baobab before visiting MWOS at Ngoni Stadium. They will end their campaign against Simba Bhora.

With their points target within reach Ngezi will be eager to keep winning and finish the season with more points than they managed last year.
