Ngezi Platinum confident of winning Northern Region Division One

LEADERS Ngezi Platinum coach Clifton Kadurira has attributed their fine run in the Northern Region Division One Soccer League to his charges’ quest for success.

They host Lake Harvest tomorrow at Baobab.

It’s 19 games into the season and they are yet to lose a match.

Kadurira said although the competition was becoming tougher in the league, his players have done well to maintain good form.

“We are looking at tough matches than in the first half, every team we are playing is doing very well so we need to work extra hard to win,” said Kadurira.

“But I think we have got guys that have the character and fighting spirit, they fight up to the last minute.

“In our last game we equalised in the 88th minute and scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.

“Our guys believe in themselves, they want to win and it’s an advantage for me because they are maintaining the momentum.”

With the return of their top goal scorer, Innocent Sokosi, who was out since Week 10 due to a hamstring injury, Ngezi appear set for another successful outing tomorrow.

“I think all those that were injured are now fit to play so I think we are going back to our original team because we were changing players and their positions as we tried to balance the team.

“Sokosi is now fit according to the doctor.

“It’s good for us that he is available for selection but there is tight competition in our team, everyone is geared to play.

“The return of these guys is a morale-booster but you can see the games we are now playing are tricky and tight because every team we play wants to beat us,” said Kadurira.

Ngezi Platinum are currently leading the race with 45 points and are 12 points ahead of second placed ZRP FC.

Lake Harvest return to the battlefield for the first time since the second half of the season started two weeks ago.

The Kariba-based side missed two of their matches with first one against Mushowani being awarded to the latter following their failure to travel to Madziva because of financial problems.

Lake Harvest then requested that their match against Herentals be postponed as they put their house in order.
