NGEZI Platinum Stars have begun a full internal reset, reshaping their board, executive and technical team as the club tightens its link to community roots and long-term development.
The platinum miners say the restructuring aligns with a renewed vision to unearth and grow talent from the surrounding rural communities.
Former vice president (technical) Lysias Chiwozva has returned to the club as president, while Wanganui High School sports director Theresa Museva has been appointed vice chairperson of the executive, which will be led by former team doctor Claudius Murumbi.
Vice president communications and marketing Roberta Katunga confirmed the changes. “Ngezi Platinum Stars FC confirms that several changes have taken place at board, executive and technical team level as part of a broader reset aimed at strengthening governance, stability and on field performance ahead of the upcoming season,” said Katunga.
Chiwozva will be supported by three vice presidents, Leonard Musariri responsible for commercial affairs, Wilson Chinzou handling administration and Mufulatelwa Gumbie overseeing technical matters. Katunga completes the line up as vice president communications and marketing.
Murumbi will chair the executive committee, with Museva deputising him. Daniel Musundire comes in as secretary general, while Rachel Majo has been named treasurer. Rumbidzai Muyambuki and Morven Mutyavaviri complete the new executive team.
Katunga said the structure was designed to close the distance between the club and the people it represents.
“In line with the Club’s founding philosophy, the new Executive Committee has been structured to strengthen community representation and reinforce the deep rooted relationship between the Club and the Ngezi community,” she said.
Changes have also been made on the technical bench. Following the departure of Takesure Chiragwi, assistant coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva has been promoted to take over the role.
“On the technical front, the club confirms that discussions were held with the former head coach, Takesure Chiragwi, and both parties mutually agreed that his contract would not be renewed,” said Katunga.
