CAPS United midfielder Joel “Josta” Ngodzo, who has been recalled into the national team after two years on the sidelines, believes the Green Machine have the capacity to beat league champions Chicken Inn in the NetOne Easycall Cup semi-final tomorrow.

The two clubs battle at Barbourfields.

The midfielder is celebrating after Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa repaid him for his stunning improvement, in recent months, in which he has revived his career at CAPS United.

“I am going back to Barbourfields where I played some of my best football.

“I will feel at home and I should help the team play well,” Ngodzo told The Herald yesterday.

“I am used to playing at Barbourfields and we should fight as we want to reach the final.”

CAPS United picked four points in their head-to-head battles against the Gamecocks in the league this season, winning in Harare and drawing in Bulawayo.

“That is motivating for us because the champions were destroying most teams but we beat them and also drew,” said Ngodzo.

“It is a new game though but we are going there with confidence. We have no pressure and football is the same.”

This week, CAPS United are training under the guidance of assistant coach Brenna Msiska as head coach Lloyd Chitembwe and his assistants Mark Mathe and Tostao Kwashi are attending a CAF B licence course at ZIFA Vilage.

However, the two coaches maybe released for the trip to Bulawayo.

Ngodzo, who was also named in the provisional CHAN squad that will prepare for the tournament which will start in January, said he was glad that the football gods were smiling on him again.

“I feel so proud and I am happy with my performance at the club which is now getting me this recognition,” said Ngodzo.

“I have missed the national team and in the past two years I was not even considered. But I have to work hard so that I get a place in the final team and I am going to fight for a place.”

CAPS United finished in fifth place and Chitembwe says he wants to win the silverware. The Green Machine were probably the best team in the final five games of the season, as they destroyed opponents at will.
