Red Apple Hotels chief executive officer Francis Ngwenya has been re-elected president of the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism for a second term running. Mr Ngwenya, was nominated unopposed at the ZCT’s 2015 annual general meeting in Harare on Thursday and will now hold the post until the 2016 AGM. He has now served two years as president since being elected in 2013.
Mr Ngwenya’s three deputies; Tich Hwingwiri, head of Holiday Inns in Zimbabwe, Winnie Muchanyuka, country manager in Zimbabwe for South African Airways and Gavin Rennie, a senior executive in the Africa Albida Tourism Group were also re-elected after being nominated unopposed at the AGM.
ZCT chief executive Mr Paul Matamisa said the tourism lobby group looks forward to implementation of its strategic plan with the incumbent leadership following its re-election at the organisation’s annual meeting last week.
“The presidential group was returned unanimously and we look forward to the implementation of the newly-created ZCT Strategic Plan for the coming three years,” said the tourism body’s CEO.
“The focus for the coming year will be the strengthening of ZCT as well as of its sectoral associations and regional branches, aimed at making ZCT more effective as the voice of travel and tourism operators throughout the country.”
