NICHOLAS GUYO has just one wish for Dynamos.
He is ready to rumble in their famous blue stripe and wants to put them to where they belong.
The former Young Warriors player could make his much-awaited debut for the Glamour Boys when the Premiership returns from the mid-season break next week.
He has been training with the Harare giants for the past two months since inking a deal with them just after the first half of the season window closed in March.
With no open slot for them, Dynamos had to wait for the mid-season window to free up some spaces and install the likes of Guyo.
Dynamos have been far from convincing in the better part of the opening phase of the season, winning just five games in 17 outings.
With 24 points picked, they are 11 behind leaders FC Platinum going into the second half of the marathon.
The somewhat manageable gap between FC Platinum and them is attributable to inconsistency on the part of the former and deceiving, given how DeMbare have carried themselves in the first 17 games of the race.
They have been underwhelming, picking full sets of points to lowly clubs like TelOne, Chegutu Pirates, Bikita Minerals and Arenel Movers.
Last Sunday GreenFuel became the only team that was in the top-flight last year that Dynamos have managed to beat this season.
There are no inspirational figures in the team’s changing room and they lack leadership on the field of play, especially with captain Frank Makarati spending most of his time on the treatment table.
The glitz and glamour have sneaked away and it is always difficult to tell whether the team still merits the giants tag they have carried for more than six decades.
And that is what Guyo wants to help restore at a team chasing a first league title in 10 years.
“I want to bring Dynamos to where they belong,” said Guyo.
“I am happy that soon, I will be able to play for the giants.
“I have been training hard all along to try and adjust to the coach’s (Genesis Mangombe) philosophy.
“It’s a strong philosophy and I am happy to be at Dynamos. They have a very strong squad, which has been unlucky not to win many games in the first half of the season.
“I do believe in the quality that is at Dynamos and I want to quickly fit in and play my role in helping the team achieve set targets.
“I am eager to make an impact. Dynamos is a huge brand and I want to play my role in helping them return to where they belong. I am ready to play for the team.”
Guyo who made his Premiership debut at CAPS United in 2018 has been playing in the lower rungs of Spanish football together with long-time friend Martin Mapisa.
Mapisa returned home from a long stint in Spain and is currently the Dynamo’s number one.
And his return seems to have triggered something in Guyo who earlier this year told Zimpapers Sports that he wanted to relaunch his career back home.
Dynamos are in desperate need of effective attackers as their strikers have not been clinical in front of goal in the opening stretch of the league marathon.
Mangombe acknowledged as much and indicated that Dynamos needed to beef up their forward line for the second half of the season.
“We are going to add more depth in front,” said Mangombe.
“We have been playing well as a team but the problem has been scoring. We need to utilise the chances that we create as a team.
“So, we will be adding some strikers to the team during the window period.”
