Nigeria launches e-ticketing for buses

LAGOS. – Lagos has introduced an electronic ticketing system for Bus Rapid Transit project. The initiative, Lagos Area Metropolitan Transport Authority, is aimed at enhancing efficiency for passengers using the buses. Speaking at the official launch of the e-tickets, deputy governor of Lagos, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said e-ticketing would make the bus project more user-friendly.

“We have over the years strived to ensure that we have very effective and reliable transportation system whether its road, water or rail.

“Through e-ticketing, we are making travel by road more attractive, more reliable and more efficient for those who chose to use this service, especially those at the grassroots who will make use of this offering,” she said.

Lamata managing director Dr Dayo Mobereola concurred.

“E-ticketing is equitable, simple, easier for collection and enables easy control for operators. It is attractive to users, administrators and operators,” he said.
