THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has redeployed nine more magistrates, part of a massive exercise being undertaken countrywide to fight corruption.
The latest transfers to take effect on February 1 next year, follow the movement of 33 magistrates two months ago in border and mining towns as well as those that had overstayed at their stations.
Chief Magistrate Mr Mishrod Guvamombe yesterday confirmed the transfers.
He said the redeployment was a routine exercise in the JSC.
“The transfers are a routine exercise meant to strengthen operations within the system. The transfers will be conducted in batches due to financial challenges to cater for relocation allowances,” said Mr Guvamombe.
He has previously said overstaying at one’s station may end up compromising magistrates and the routine transfers are necessary to fight corruption.
Among those who are being redeployed are magistrates that would swap places.
Miss Evelyn Mashavakure will be moving to Gokwe from Bulawayo while Mr Collen Chiruma replaces her in Bulawayo.
Mrs Avia Matura moves from Shurugwi to Mberengwa as resident magistrate while Mr Tavengwa Sangster takes the same post in Shurugwi.
Mr Tayengwa Chibanda moves from Gweru as resident magistrate to the newly opened Mvuma Court.
Mr Guvamombe encouraged the affected magistrates to complete their partly heard matters before moving to their new stations.
The JSC transfers come after the Department of Immigration redeployed officers from ports of entry across the country in compliance with the Government’s directive to transfer all those who had operated at their stations for more than five years.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has redeployed 500 police officers from Beitbridge to various stations across the country.
