Nkandla: Letters of reprimand sent to ministers

Pretoria – Letters of reprimand have been sent to three high-ranking officials, including two Cabinet ministers and one former Cabinet minister for their involvement in the Nkandla saga, the Presidency said yesterday.

Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, former police minister Nathi Mthethwa and former minister of public works and current High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Geoff Doidge, are mentioned.

This comes after the Constitutional Court’s ruling that President Jacob Zuma violated his oath of office by not complying with Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s remedial actions.

An inter-departmental committee has also been established to update the 2003 Cabinet Policy and to draft clear standards on the    security measures that can be taken, the reasonable cost that can be incurred by the state and the Meanwhile, National Treasury is still working on calculating how much Zuma must pay back for the non-security upgrades. – Sapa
