THE business community in Nkayi has pledged to support the welfare of athletes representing Matabeleland North at upcoming National Association of Primary School Heads (Naph) Track and Field Championships in Masvingo from March 19-22.
The businesses’ pledge came during the Naph Matabeleland North inter-district competitions at Nkayi High School.
Businessman Arthur Moyo, who is involved in construction, tourism and hospitality, said his establishment, Semukelokuhle Lodge, would provide breakfast to the athletes for the duration of the camp.
“We want to feed our athletes proper meals as they go into camp. I will provide breakfast at the lodge for the team. Therefore, I call upon those in charge to bring in the proper menu and we take care of the athletes.

“We will be feeding the kids and we want to see how they will perform after we all put in the necessary provisions for the camp,” said Moyo.
“We thank all those within our business community who responded to the call to assist the team. It is welcome and appreciated.
“The donations will go a long way in helping athletes fulfil their dream and showcase their talent.”
Moyo also gave 11-year-old Nolwazi Mpunzi from Bubi District a cash award for bagging gold medals in the 100m, 200m, 400m and long jump.
Other business executives from Bulawayo, who were present, also pledged to support the athletes.
