IN a world rife with heinous crimes, young employees have become a vulnerable target for male employers who abuse their power to sexually exploit them.
Such was the case when a 32-year-old man from Nketa suburb in Bulawayo was arrested for sexually abusing his 20-year-old female employee.
Afraid suspecting that the victim might become pregnant after the abuse, the man bought her an emergency contraception pill, popularly known as the “morning after” pill.
For the alleged offence, Bright Munemo (32) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga facing rape charges.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody. The magistrate advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

The court heard that on 15 September 2024, the accused and the victim were at their workplace. After completing an assigned task, the accused asked the victim to hug him, and she complied.
The accused is alleged to have kissed the victim before making sexual advances towards her, which she rejected.
Munemo is also alleged to have locked the door and kissed the victim for the second time before drawing her closer to him.
He is alleged to have removed the victim’s clothes and raped her once.
After the alleged rape, the accused is said to have later brought morning-after pills for the victim and she took them.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
