A 37-YEAR-OLD woman from Nketa suburb in Bulawayo is appealing for assistance to raise US$15 000 for her 10-year-old daughter to enable her to undergo a heart surgery in India.

Mrs Leobar Muthenje told Sunday News that she has been in and out of hospitals with her daughter for the past seven years seeking treatment after she started getting ill at the age of three.

The 10-year-old child has three holes in her heart which has seen her suffering from a congenital heart defect which in medical terms is called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

Mrs Muthenje said she had been through a lot and it was heartbreaking to see her child suffer from such a condition at a tender age and appealed to members of the public for assistance.

“It has been a tough journey for us as a family to see our daughter go through this painful conditionl at a young age and all I wish for as a mother is to get her the help that she needs. She was born with a heart problem and we only got to discover it when she was three years old,” she said.

“I have been buying her tablets every month and they are very expensive as well as the recommended food. She has been getting treatment at Mpilo Hospital and the doctors recommended India as the best country she can get treatment as soon as possible.”

She said her daughter’s treatment was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic since it disturbed the process and she is worried that it could not be delayed any longer.

Mrs Muthenje said she was appealing to members of the public to assist so that she could be able to take her daughter to India and get the surgery done.

Mrs Muthenje said the doctors have been calling to check if she has been able to gather the money for the trip to India for the surgery. Well-wishers can contact her on +263714883180 and her EcoCash contact details are +263778021145.
