LADY CHEVRONS star batter and vice-captain Josephine Nkomo has been voted the Midlands Province Women’s Cricketer of the Year at a ceremony held in Kwekwe on Monday.
Her brilliant performances with the bat and ball during her time with Mbizo Cricket Club and Rhinos Cricket saw the all-rounder being honoured and named the best female cricketer from the province.
Nkomo played for Mbizo in the Midlands Cricket Association League and Rhinos in the national Fifty50 and T20 leagues.
The Zimbabwe national team all-rounder helped her team reach this years’ final of the Fifty50 Challenge which they lost by 167 runs against Alliance Health Eagles.
Nkomo recently joined the national side just in time for their preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers in United Arab Emirates next month after her stint with English side, South North Cricket Club.
She is in South Africa with the national team and has taken three wickets in two games against South Africa Emerging Women (2-11 and 1-26).
The preparatory five match series between Zimbabwe and South Africa select is level at 1-1.
