Nkulumane teen stabs friend twice with Colombian knife

A 19-year-old teenager from Nkulumane 12 in Bulawayo appeared in court for allegedly stabbing his friend on the neck and on the upper left breast with a Colombian knife following a misunderstanding.

Bright Mhlanga appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate, Mr Pasipanodya Maturure, facing an attempted murder charge.

He was remanded out of custody on bail until March 11.
Prosecutor, Ms Melissa Dube, told the court that the alleged offence occurred on December 25, at around 9PM.

On that day the accused person was together with his friend Eric Ndebele (20) when a misunderstanding arose between them, while standing on the front of a house in Nkulumane 12.

The court heard that due to the misunderstanding, Mhlanga pulled out a Colombian knife and used it to stab his friend once on the left side of the neck and once on the upper left breast.

As a result of the assault, Ndebele fell down on the ground and sustained a deep cut on the left upper breast and a cut on the left side of the neck, said Ms Dube.

The complainant was rushed to hospital for medical attention and a police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person, added Ms Dube.
