Sheasham FC 0-0 Black Rhinos FC
SHEASHAM FC once again failed to find a formula to score after being held to a goalless draw by Black Rhinos in a Castle Lager Premiership at Bata Stadium in Gweru yesterday.
Even the firing of John Nyikadzino for former Bulawayo Chiefs coach Lizwe Sweswe could not bring in a change in fortunes, as they huffed and puffed the whole match without getting the target they need to move away from the relegation zone.
The Construction Boys have gone for eight matches without a goal and even the opening of Bata Stadium has not given the tonic they want.
Sweswe said the draw was not a bad result considering that he is still working on having the players understand his philosophy.
“It is still work in progress, we have to keep working hard at training and improve on our goal scoring, today we created chances and that is what we have to work on at training because if you don’t create chances, you can’t score,” he said.
Black Rhinos coach, Saul Chaminuka again bemoaned the lack of potency on the part of his strikers as his charges spurned numerous chances that came their way in the first half.
“It’s a match which we clearly dominated creating good scoring opportunities but failing to convert, otherwise we could have killed the match in the first half,” he said.
He added that his team did well in the second half to contain the Gweru side.
“Come second half it was 50-50, the game could have gone either way, I would call it a game of two halves.”
“I think we are going to add two players from our development side to beef up the squad so that we play better and score goals because we are sitting in the relegation zone at the moment. But I am sure that we will not be relegated come end of the season,” he said.
The army side started on the offensive with three strikers Lot Chiwunga, Garikai Dematsika and Evans Katema who could have found the back of the net three minutes into the match when he got to the end of an Allen Gahadzikwa flick but his back effort was saved by Sheasham FC goalkeeper Elton Sibanda from close range.
Gahadzikwa was to hit the cross bar moments later as Black Rhinos piled pressure on the Construction Boys.
The hosts never really troubled the army side as they were packed in their half. However, in the second half Sheasham upped their game and gave the army side problems.
In the end the two sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.
