STARTING January 1, 2026, all athletes in Zimbabwe from elite runners to social runners, will be required to pay a US$7 annual license fee, according to a new directive from the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (Naaz).

The fee includes a US$4 levy from the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) and applies to all levels of participation, from competitive events to fun runs and social races.

“In order to participate in any athletics event in Zimbabwe, whether a fun run, social run, or any other competitive or recreational race, athletes must hold a valid license,” reads a circular distributed by Naaz to provincial governors and stakeholders.

The new regulations carry strict enforcement measures; no athlete will be registered for an event without a valid license.

Those without a license can obtain a temporary permit for US$10.
Race organisers, clubs, and coaches who flout the rules face penalties, including fines.
