Sweden based traditional musician, Luckson “Manluckerz” Chikutu has released a song “Together as One” that provokes thought on xenophobia worldwide.

Simply dubbed TAO, the song comes at a time when foreign nationals are facing brutality in different parts of South Africa.

According to Manluckerz, hostility towards different nationals was not exclusive to South Africa.

“The song encourages people across the globe to unite. It is not enough to speak against hostility but we need to remind each other that we are one. We all need each other to survive and there is no place for xenophobia in this global village,” he said.

He said the gospel of unity was what heroes like Mbuya Nehanda, Kwame Nkruma and Nelson Mandela lived for.

The song is taken off a brand new album “Mai na Baba Molly” that is also a tribute to his Zimbabwe traditional Unity band members.

The group was involved in an accident in their last visit to Harare last year.

“I wrote most of the songs with the help of my parents, hence the name Mai na Baba Molly. My father succumbed to a stress related illness after the accident that almost destroyed the entire band” he said.

Manluckerz who has since recovered from the accident too said the album was meant to be released last year.

The Zimbabwe Music Festival Bira founder said he chose to record it in the few days was in the country for his father’s memorial service.

“I worked with the various artistes that are part of Zimfebi and I am happy with what we came up with,” he said.

The golden touch of artistes like Tapiwa “Maselo” Jera and Phillip Fareta can be felt in the music.

A review of the entire album reflects the same message of peace and perseverance.

“The song ‘Mai Molly’ is meant to comfort my mother is in times of grieving. ‘Ela-ela’, introduces my music to the people while Serina is in solidarity with women,” he said.

Other songs are “Paruzende” that talks about roots and “Akanaka” that talks about how good people are unfairly targeted.
