No relatives to claim unidentified body

Midlands Bureau Chief
POLICE in Zvishavane have appealed to members of the public to help identify a body of a dreadlocked man, which has spent over two months at Zvishavane District Hospital mortuary with no relatives coming forward.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said families with a relative missing relative should visit Zvishavane Police Station or any nearest police station for possible assistance.

“We are appealing to members of the public to assist in the identification and burial of a man who has gone for over two months without being identified at Zvishavane District Hospital,” he said.

“The man died in a bushy area under Chief Masunda in Zvishavane and his body was found on June 11.”
Insp Mahoko said the deceased was dark in complexion and approximately 35 years old with dreadlocks. He died while wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt, khaki pair of trousers, barefooted and didn’t have any form of identification particulars.

“Members of the public missing a relative with that identification should visit Zvishavane Police Station or their nearest police station,” he said.

Insp Mahoko urged members of the public to always have identification particulars at all times and have a trusted person to know their movements.

In a different incident, a beer drinking spree ended in tragedy when a 17-year-old boy from Nkayi was allegedly fatally stabbed over an undisclosed matter in Gokwe.

Meli Mlingo of Mhlauli Village, Chief Mahliwa in Nkayi, was allegedly stabbed by Leon Moyo from the same village.
Insp Mahoko said Mlingo was reportedly found dead at Dumizweni Village near Nyaje Business Centre under Chief Mukoka in Gokwe with a stab wound on his back.

It is alleged that on August 28, Mlingo was coming from a beer drinking spree with his friends at Nyaje Business Centre and he had a misunderstanding with Moyo over an undisclosed matter.

“It is alleged Moyo withdrew an Okapi knife and stabbed Mlingo once on the back. Mlingo walked back to Nyaje Business Centre to seek assistance while bleeding profusely,” he said.

“He collapsed while on the way and died. The body was discovered the following morning by a passer-by who made a report to the police,” said Insp Mahoko.

The police attended the scene leading to the arrest of Moyo.

“We appeal to members of the public to solve their differences amicably by engaging a third party in the form of church or community leaders than use violence as it results in unwanted loss of life,” said Insp Mahoko.
