Noel Kaseke returns to action in Cyprus

Kaseke, who was part of the trailblazing Highlanders team that had the likes of Thulani Ncube, Dazzy Kapenya, Zenzo Moyo, Thabani Masawi, capped his return to first team football with a goal in a cup match on Wednesday against a Division Two side Atromitos. He scored the equaliser that resulted in his side salvaging a 2-2 draw.

On Saturday the former Marist Brothers of Dete student’s team had no mercy for sixth placed Olympiakos, beating them 2-0 to stay within sight of leaders Apoel.

Kaseke’s recovery will surely be a huge relief to the national team gaffers as the Warriors will soon be preparing for their Afcon qualifier against Mali in Bamako.

Still in Cyprus Obadiah Tarumbwa’s side Enosis further condemned ailing Doxa to the dustbins when they beat them by a solitary strike. The former Bosso and Bantu Rovers striker is making cameo but effective appearances at the side.

The curse of losing for Vusa Nyoni’s Germinal Beerschot’s Belgian outfit seems to have returned once, barely a few weeks after registering a three- match unbeaten run. They lost 2-0 to Honour Gombami’s Cercle Brugge last Wednesday before losing by a single goal to Club Brugge over the weekend. Nyoni though sat it out in the Club Brugge loss.

Khama Billiat, formerly with Caps United, continues to shine in the Absa Premiership in South Africa where he is turning out for high riding Ajax Cape Town. On Saturday he was part of the 2-0 destruction of Moroka Swallows who had Billiat’s former teammate at Makepekepe Oscar Machapa.

Another former Caps player William Katsande was on the bench for the third-placed Cape Town-based outfit.

AmaZulu, home to former Gunners players, the 2009 Soccer Star of the Year Ramson Zhuwawo and Carlington Nyadombo were held to a 1-1 by visiting Bloemfontein Celtic. The single point did not do much for the duo’s team as they remained rooted on position 12 on the log standings.

Zimbabwe’s best South African export at the moment Knowledge Musona and fellow Warriors player Tinashe Nengomasha were in the starting line-up in Kaizer Chiefs’ 3-1 demolition of Maritzburg United.
