Filmmaker Melgin Tafirenyika is set to feature top Nigerian actors in an upcoming production, “Sour Milk”. The movie that will be shot in Pretoria and Johannesburg will cast Emmanuel Okongu and Mirrian Ajor, popular faces in Nigeria’s country’s TJ Productions.
Tafirenyika who plays the supporting actor has also included rising actor George Medupe and renowned musician Joey Hesen in what is promising to be a clash of fine actors.
“I want to do something different in this movie and give it a collective African feel. I have engaged various nationals that include Nigerians, South Africans and Zimbabweans.
“Emmanuel Okongu and Mirrian Ajor are some of the stars who have made a name for themselves through TJ Productions in South Africa,” said Tafirenyika.
“Sour Milk” tackles the predicament that most women face when they realise that things do not always turn up the way they want as far as marriage is concerned.
“Most women persevere and turn out alright, others struggle and turn out broken, and many manage but end up losing the values they once upheld. This is a very emotional story that exposes the dilemma,” he said.
Tafirenyika is also working closely with a top casting agency in Johannesburg called Bekezela.
Owned by Zimbabwe-born Bekezela Dube, the agency will provide seasoned cast members.
“Sour Milk” is co-written by Anderline Gold Ergbuhuzor and directed by Award winner Myre Maramba.
The model-cum actor and film maker is the brains behind “I Will Mary Myself”. The local movie has been getting slots every week on regional channel Africa Magic for some time. Tafirenyika, however, said the new production is likely to surpass its predecessor’s success.
“‘I Will Marry Myself’ gave me a good platform to gain international recognition. I have been getting hints and exciting story lines from international writers and movie critics that have come in handy in the upcoming film,” he said.
