NOMADIC ex-Highlanders, Caps United and Dynamos striker Newman Sianchali has joined Zifa Central Region Division One side ZPC Munyati.

Sianchali (36), who has also previously done duty for Hwange, the now defunct Bantu Rovers and Bulawayo City revealed that he joined the Kwekwe-based ZPC Munyati following the expiry of his contract at Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side ZPC Kariba.

“I am now with ZPC Munyati. My contract at ZPC Kariba was not renewed. I have played Division One football before and I’m greatly looking forward to helping ZPC Munyati earn Premier Soccer League promotion. The other reason that compelled me to join ZPC Munyati is that it is based in Kwekwe, a town that is close to my home area Binga,” said Sianchali.

Interestingly ZPC Munyati are under the guidance of ex-ZPC Kariba coach Godfrey Tamirepi who left the latter in May last year after a string of poor results.

At ZPC Munyati, the speedy Sianchali signed a one-year contract and he joined the club alongside fellow forward Bright Chayambuka and centre back Byron Madzokere players he also did duty with at Kariba based Premier Soccer League outfit.

Two years ago, Sianchali was able to join an elite class of footballers, who have played for the three traditional giants of Zimbabwean football- Bosso, DeMbare and Makepekepe.

He has followed in the footsteps of the likes of 1996 Soccer Star of the Year Stewart Murisa, midfielder Stephen Alimenda, controversial forward Rodreck Mutuma, Masimba Mambare, Valentine Ndaba and goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya.

Sianchali joined DeMbare in February 2021 after spending two years at Makepekepe. Before that he had previously played for Bosso. He was at Highlanders for one season in 2018 where he finished as the club’s joint top goal scorer with Gabriel Nyoni on six goals.

The veteran forward is preparing for life after football as he recently participated in a Zifa level one coaching course held at Milton High School in Bulawayo. – @FungaiMuderere
