Thupeyo Muleya, Beitbridge Bureau

The Nomination Court is currently sitting at the Beitbridge Rural District Council (BBRDC) offices to receive nomination papers from candidates seeking to contest the Ward 14 by-election.

The seat fell vacant in December last year following the death of Councillor Milton Ndou.

By midday on Wednesday, seasoned politician Cde Thamson Lamula Ndou, who emerged victorious in the ZANU PF primary elections held in Ward 14 on Friday, had successfully submitted his nomination papers.

The Nomination Court is expected to close at 4:30pm on Wednesday.

The by-election is scheduled for February 21, with Cde Ndou’s participation marking a significant step in the ruling party’s bid to retain the seat.

In a recent post-primary elections interview, Cde Ndou, a renowned farmer, pledged to prioritise community engagement and consultations if elected into office.
