Before I even delve deeper into my discussion I should say the devil has always been a deceiver. He can coat venom with chocolate icing, only to realise that you have gulped the wrong thing after the manifestations of side effects.
Not every church is a true church and not every church is a false church.
Not every miraculous performance is by God neither does all prophecy come from the Almighty God. On Christian television channels, not all healing and miracle testimonials shown on camera are true attestations. One; videos can be graphically manipulated to bring out a skewed meaning to look true. Secondly; miracles can be faked only with intent to lure more people into false doctrines.
A miraculous performance is not authentic proof enough to show that the power of Jehovah God is at work.
In the Old Testament, Moses performed miracles using the power of God, but the same miracles were also performed by those who believed in false gods. The Bible says “. . . Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did like manner with their enchantments.” (Exodus 7: 11; 22, 8vs. 7; 18).
The spirits from the dark world can also imitate the true miracles from God. These are spirits that could pretend to be working for Christ while in the true sense they are working for diabolical ambitions.
Talking of the time that is yet to come, Jesus said: “Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'” (Matt. 7:22-23).
Most people have been duped into believing that God is working miracles while it’s not so.
Then how do we come to a conclusion that a church or a miracle is from God? The word of God is the best yardstick to use. Secondly, it’s crucial to test the spirits, judge and compare the doctrinal philosophies and values presented by anyone or any gathering using the word of God; the Bible. Heresy is very detrimental if not appropriately deduced. Heresy is an “opinion contrary to the orthodox doctrine of the Christian Church, or to the accepted doctrine on any subject” (The Concise Oxford Dictionary). Through heresy people could be deceived by a man who uses occultist gimmicks using the name of Jesus.
The most dangerous thing in our day is that the devil is coming as an angel of light, with all the benefits seemingly to satisfy the needs of humanity. (2 Corinthians 11: 14). There is so much of prophecy these days, but we shouldn’t forget that among these prophecies there are or there could be false ones, certainly heralding the second coming of Christ. These prophecies will be accompanied by signs and wonders.
Matthew 24 verse 24 says “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect”.
The church is definitely under siege. The television is flaunting Christian celebrities instead of servants of the Lord. Manipulation is rife instead of the true message of the Christ and the Cross. The true gospel of Christ is swiftly being obscured by messages on prosperity and accumulation of material wealth, which in some cases has nothing to do with the eternal life that we get from Jesus Christ. It’s high time Christians separated themselves from heretics (Romans 16:
17, Titus 3:10, 2 Cor. 6:17)!
One of those days we wish to be rejoicing the everlasting presence of the Almighty God where all trials, tears, troubles and tribulations will be things of the past, but it won’t be a surprise to find some people not there. This will be because they would have been working for the wrong kingdom. To close up, the following readings will be core as an icing on the whole cake: Titus 1:9, Titus 2:1, 2 Timothy 4:3-4, 2 Peter 2:1 and Matthew 24:23-36.
