THE long arm of the law last week finally caught up with a notorious housebreaker whose reign of terror had become a nightmare at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point and surrounding areas.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), police confirmed the arrest of 31-year-old Fungai Dhliwayo.
“On Friday, November 11, police in Nyanyadzi arrested Fungai Dhliwayo (31) in connection with a series of unlawful entry and theft cases which occurred at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point and the surrounding areas,” said the police, adding that he allegedly mostly targeted female-headed households and unattended homesteads.
“The suspect is linked to 10 cases of unlawful entry and theft, in which he allegedly targeted female-headed households and unattended homesteads, stealing gas tanks, groceries, blankets, clothes, and other goods.”
The police said various stolen items, including kitchen utensils, clothes, shoes and blankets were recovered hidden at the suspect’s hideout in a mountain near Birchenough Bridge.
