Musician Enock “Nox” Guni says tonight’s show with Oliver Mtukudzi at Bassline in Johannesburg will be a chance for him and fellow urban grooves singer Shamie to prove that their genre still has a lot to offer. Shamie, born Shame Mavudzi, stormed the music industry at the advent of urban grooves wave as the other half of Shame and Nathan duo that did the hit “Aripo”. It was the same time that Nox was rocking the music scene with his hit “Maria” and the musicians were part of the forceful urban grooves movement. Nox said they are still strong in their game despite the slump in popularity of their genre and tonight’s show will be a chance for them to prove their prowess.
“Our music is still strong. We still have the creativity and we still have the zeal to stage energetic acts. I have worked with Shamie in different projects and I know we are going to send a strong message at the show. It is good that we are sharing the stage with Mudhara Tuku and I know many people will come. We have to show those people that our music still has the entertaining power,” he said.
Besides Mtukudzi, Nox and Shamie, the show will also feature Afrika Revenge and TMula. Nox and Shamie are based in South Africa and have been performing with fellow Zimbabweans at various shows. Organisers of the show, Extratime Entertainment, said all is set for the show and artistes have all promised good acts.
