NATIONAL People’s Party’s Mashonaland Central provincial chairman, Mr Godfrey Chimombe, has hailed President Mnangagwa for ensuring a conducive political and legislative environment ahead of the forthcoming harmonised elections.

Addressing his executive party members at a private residence in Chipindura Park, Bindura recently, Mr Chimombe said President Mnangagwa should be given due credit for ensuring that all parties conduct their business freely without fear of victimisation.

He said the former president, Mr Robert Mugabe, used to unleash violence on the opposition.

“We should applaud President Mnangagwa for helping us remove Mr Mugabe who had become a dangerous dictator in the class of Idi Amin and Hitler, as well as availing to us a conducive environment for free and fair elections,” he said.

“If someone has done something good we should appreciate that and applaud him for that because today we can afford to have our party meetings freely without any fear of political victimisation from the State machinery like what used to happen during Mr Mugabe’s era.”
