NRZ seeks investors to buy land

Kudzai Chikiwa, Chronicle Reporter

THE National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) is looking for investors who can buy its land in Victoria Falls and the Harare suburbs of Rugare and Budiriro.

NRZ public relations manager, Mr Nyasha Maravanyika, told The Chronicle that the parastatal has a lot of idle land which if sold to investors can generate income.

“NRZ has a lot of idle land in the country and we need to come up with strategies to sell it to potential investors so that we can benefit as we are intensifying recapitalisation of the parastatal,” he said.

Mr Maravanyika said any investor who has the capacity to utilise the land should approach NRZ.

“We are looking for business minded investors who will use the land for the benefit of the nation thereby generating some income. In Victoria Falls we are looking at an investor who can even build a business mall. The Rugare-Budiriro land has great business potential such that one can even establish a fuel service station,” he said.

The NRZ public relations manager said the parastatal is looking forward to engaging investors during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) period this week.

“ZITF exhibitions are a great opportunity for us to meet investors who can be interested in this land.

“We are saying instead of leaving the land idle, we can at least let someone develop it. This benefits us as it will boost our income generation as you know that NRZ needs recapitalisation,” he said.

Mr Maravanyika said NRZ is maximising the potential in land capital.
