NSSA sues defaulting firms

They were identified as Universal Rubbers, Wonderful Panel Beaters, Mhunga Bus Company, Ezawi Estate (Pvt) Ltd, Frank Collins Logistics, Cinell Machinery (Pvt) Ltd, Riptop Mining, Piniel More, Hygienic Services and Downtown Bottle Store.
The companies are being separately sued by the authority, which is also seeking penalties for late payment plus interests.

Nssa alleges the employers were required to pay the contributions on time, which they had not done.
According to the court papers, Mhunga Bus Company failed to remit pension contributions for the period between February 2009 and January 2010.

The outstanding amount is US$26 269 and is now due.
Wonderful Panel Beaters owes the authority US$3 631, Ezawi Estate (Pvt) Ltd US$9 344, Hygienic Services US$19 440 and Frank Collins Logistics US$4 528,78.

Nssa is also claiming US$7 572,26 from Cinell Machinery (Pvt) Ltd, US$4 451 from Riptop Mine, US$4 408,31 from Piniel More in outstanding Workers’ Compensation Insurance Fund.
The authority is also claiming US$2 708,23 from Downtown Bottle Store.

Despite demand, Nssa submitted that the companies have failed to submit their workers’ pension contributions.
The authority is also demanding payment of interest and late payment penalties.
The cases will be heard separately in due course at the High Court.
