PATRICK Ben Musaka’s 2019 season is certainly over in a devastating blow for the holding Highlanders midfielder after going under the knife twice in two months.

The former Zimbabwe youth international, who is under the wings of legendary Peter “Nsukuzonke” Ndlovu, had little game for Bulawayo giants, featuring in less than five games this season.

“It’s really been a tough year for me but I do trust in God and God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers,” said Musaka, a former Zimbabwe Under-20 captain.

He is said to have been recommended to Bosso by Nsukuzonke and he also got the backing of former Young Warriors coach Mandla Mpofu after turning out for South Africa’s Black Leopards.

Musaka once trained with Ajax Cape Town as he was preparing to go for trials in Slovakia.

After playing second fiddle to in-form duo of Nqobizitha Masuku and Adrian Silla, Musaka, who has been a regular at Bulawayo’s upmarket pubs and very much active on social media, reportedly shunned to be attended to by Bosso’s team doctors, opting for private surgeons.

Interestingly, his ailment was reportedly something as minor as a blister.

“I know a lot of people have been asking me why I haven’t been on the pitch for a while but a lot has happened this year and adding to it I just had two operations in a space of two months,” said Musaka.

He added: “It’s really frustrating as a footballer not to be out there doing what you love the most. Thanks to everyone who has been truly supportive during this difficult period. I promise I will come back stronger than ever before, I owe myself a lot and everyone that believes in me.”

A well-placed source at Highlanders told B-Metro Sport that chances were between slim and none that the midfielder, who has since stopped training at Bosso, would don the famous Zebra-shirted jersey next season.
