This brings to 24, the number of suspects who have appeared in court over the murder case.
Tendai Maxwell Chinyama who is the party’s district organising secretary for Ward 36 Kambuzuma, appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Shane Kubonera who remanded him in custody to 6 July this year.
Insp Mutedza was stationed at Borrowdale Police Station and attached to the Police Reaction Group at the time of his death.
They were summoned to attend to an illegal meeting by MDC-T youths in Glen View.
On arrival, Insp Mutedza and his five subordinates alighted from the vehicle and asked where the youth leaders were.
They were informed they were in a Night Club.
They approached Manyengavana and Gorekore and asked them to disperse their gathering peacefully, as it was not a sanctioned meeting, the court was told.
The youths, it is alleged, started denouncing the police, shouting in shona “Matatya ngaauraiwe” (Kill the frogs).
They reportedly hurled stones, empty bottles, steel stools and other missiles at the officers. The outnumbered policemen ran out of the club and Insp Mutedza rushed to another white Nissan Hardbody, which he mistook as their unmarked police vehicle.
As others ran to their police vehicle parked a few metres away, Insp Mutedza tried to open the door to seek refuge and eventually he was hit by a brick on the left side of the head and he fell down as a result.
The youths allegedly followed and started kicking him with others trampling him all over his body. As a result, he fell unconscious and bled profusely from the ears, nose and mouth.
Some of the youths, it is alleged, jumped into the Nissan truck and sped off while others removed and hid their party regalia in an attempt to conceal their identity.
Insp Mutedza was rushed to Harare Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post mortem carried out revealed his death was a result of severe head injuries, a depressed skull and a damaged brain.
