The Nurses Council of Zimbabwe says it is not involved in the recruitment of nurses and prospective student nurses must direct their applications to the respective institutions where applications are to be submitted as per the advertisement.
In a statement, the Council clarified their position distancing themselves from the recruitment process.
“The Nurses Council of Zimbabwe has noted with concern the circulation of false communications on various platforms that may mislead members of the public into believing that the Council is responsible for the recruitment of student nurses.
The Council wishes to clarify that the recruitment of student nurses does not fall within the mandate of the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe,” reads the statement.
They said members of the public are therefore urged to disregard any communication claiming that the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe is conducting, facilitating or coordinating student nurse recruitment.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care recently flighted adverts for the recruitment of Registered General Nurses and Mental Health Nurses for the January, May and September 2027 intakes. They also advertised for Primary Care Nurse Training opportunities. These two opportunities have since reached their deadlines which was Monday 28 September 2026.
The Ministry of Health is on record saying they do not charge any application fees for recruitment and only advertises through traditional print media platforms adding that the public must beware of fraudsters.
Furthermore, they said they have zero tolerance to corruption in student nurse recruitment throughout the country.
The public is further encouraged to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any information before acting on or sharing it.
