Nust Enactus Club host awareness tourney

THE National University of Science and Technology Enactus club held a five-a-side soccer tournament yesterday at the institution’s grounds dubbed “Fight against alcohol, substance abuse and risky behaviour.”
Five-a-side was inspired from the fact that each team featured five players instead of the common 11 as Enactus embarked on a project to curb alcohol and substance abuse among the youths.

Though it was a closely contested match in the final round, Amabhusesi FC succumbed to a 0-2 loss to Nust Academic Stars who emerged winners of the tournament and in the third runner-up match FOG beat Cowdray Park Eagles 2-1.

The Eagles walked away with $8, while Amabhubesi received $15 and the Academic Stars walked away with $20 and a floating trophy.
Thula Nyoni project co-ordinator and a member of Enactus said that the tournament was part of the projects their club was undertaking this year and they decided to adopt the five men strategy so they would get people to participate.

“We chose soccer because it is a popular game among individuals and we are thankful that it is a project which is being implemented”, said Nyoni.
