Nust focused on Highlanders upset

Innocent Kurira, Sports Reporter
NUST A men’s basketball team coach Tatenda Mumbengegwi is confident in his team’s abilities ahead of their clash with Highlanders at Khanyisile Sports Centre tomorrow.

Mumbengegwi said morale was high in camp following their 61-50 victory over LSU last weekend.

Nust A are sixth on the table with six points from four games, while Highlanders are third with eight points from five games.

“I believe we have bounced back to winning ways. We are looking forward to building on the positive result from last week. We are confident of victory going into this one. I have a very strong squad that plays with fluidity and some exciting fast pace.

“We will be hoping to use those strengths in our quest to get maximum points. I have had a chance to watch Highlanders; they are a good side, but we have a chance to beat them,” Mumbengegwi said.

Nust A have a clean bill of health with all players injury free ahead of the encounter. They will be hoping key player Nhlanhla Chirinda, who has been impressive this season, leads them to victory.

In other matches, an epic encounter is on the cards when defending champions Giants face rivals Southern Mavericks in a top of the table clash that is certain to produce some thrills and spills.

The women’s division will also see a potentially explosive encounter when Southern Mavericks face Angels, who will be hoping to stun the defending champions.

League action begins today with Mavericks women taking on Bosso, while Nust B take on LSU.
