THE lights are up, the catwalk’s polished, and the heat is on!
The National University of Science and Technology (Nust) is ready to unleash elegance, brains, brawn, and a whole lot of campus charisma at this year’s Miss and Mr Nust pageant, set for tomorrow (Sunday) at the Nust Ceremonial Hall.
With the theme “Elegance Beyond Borders”, this year’s edition promises more than just crowns and sashes, it is a full-blown celebration of talent, intelligence, confidence, and creativity among the student body.
Forget the old-school catwalk clichés, Nust is flipping the script and turning this pageant into a platform of power!
Organisers have said this pageant is not just about looking good, it is about making moves.
“The Miss and Mr Nust pageant has grown into one of the university’s most anticipated flagship events, giving students a stage to showcase not only their physical presence but also their leadership potential, digital savvy, and personal flair,” organisers said.
From fashion-forward runways to mind-stretching Q&As and jaw-dropping talent showcases, the event is a melting pot of academic meets artistic, muscle meets mind, and vibe meets voice.
It is a fierce line-up this year of those battling for the titles. Representing the ladies in the Miss Nust category are Tanya Ziyambi, Amanda T Mudhara, Tanatswa Paradrza, Nomqhele Nkomo, Yolanda Mpofu, Ruvarashe Mabhena, Nompendulo, and Luveena Bukani.
The gents gunning for the Mr Nust title are Julian Bell, Tatenda Victor, Theo Maphosa, Awakhiwe Dokotela, Osley Nyarudzuy, and Takudza Jambokwe.
And yes, it is going to be a tight race of charm, intellect, and that “it” factor.
Also on the cards are categories like Mr Bodybuilder and Mr & Miss Digital Content Creator, capturing the full spectrum of modern student excellence, from fitness freaks to online influencers.
And what is a pageant without a party? Setting the stage ablaze will be live performances from heavy-hitters like Nyasha David, Ishan, MTKay Ntwana, and more. So event attendees should expect a night of music, moves, and great vibes as Nust celebrates its own in true superstar fashion.
This pageant is important for the university as it isn’t just a glitzy weekend distraction, it’s a crucial campus culture cornerstone.
“The event empowers students to step out of their academic shells and shine in areas often overlooked in traditional education. It promotes confidence, builds self-esteem, and unearths hidden talents, all while reinforcing the university’s commitment to holistic student development.
“More than just crowns and Instagram moments, Miss & Mr Nust is about growth, visibility, and giving tomorrow’s leaders a platform today,” organisers said.
The reigning champs, Krystial Osieki and Dylan Maunze raised the bar last year. But this Sunday, it is anyone’s game. And if the buzz on campus is anything to go by, the new winners will have to be nothing short of iconic.
So buckle up.
The runway is ready, the competition is cutthroat, and the campus is watching.
Who will walk away with the crown and who will strut straight into campus legend?
