Celebrated dancehall star Nutty O has managed to charm his way into the Zambian market, with visiting reality show host and radio personality Mutale Mwanza singling him out as his favourite local artiste.

Mwanza, a prominent media personality, was in the country to broaden her horizons, formulating strategic partnerships with locals at the invitation of Zheera Trust, with the support of Concord for Young Women in Business.

It was at a stakeholders dinner held by the local hosts at Rainbow Towers Hotel where Mwanza met Nutty O.

The pint-sized musician was the only artiste invited, and by Mwanza admission, because he is her favourite.

Mwanza said meeting Nutty O was one of the highlights of her tour.

“I love Nutty O’s music,” she said. “I’m a top fan, that’s why I asked my hosts Zheera Trust to invite him so that we can interact on a personal level.”

The two stars instantly heated it off, sharing light conversations on music, life in general and passion for art and charity in particular.

They went on to sing “Vroom”, Mwanza’s favourite Nutty O song, with the video already circulating on social media.

Mwanza is a multi-talented media personality with over a decade of experience.

She is the executive producer of her reality television show, Mutale Mwanza Unscripted, which airs on Zambezi Magic DSTV channel 162.

Zheera Trust runs “She Glows Africa” a quarterly magazine whose primary focus is to highlight success stories and showcase women who have overcome challenges to achieve remarkable accomplishments.

It aims to inspire and motivate its readers to pursue their own aspirations and dreams by shining the limelight on those already accomplishing the impossible.

Mwanza, who is often referred to as the Queen of Zambian media, said she has a good working relationship with the magazine.

“I first encountered “She Glows Africa” magazine in 2021 when Alice Tagwira who is the publication’s founder reached out to me on social media,” she said. “She was someone I received as bubbly because we had not yet met in person.

“She seemed very focused and a goal getter, so I checked out her social media pages and the magazine and I loved what she is doing for women in Africa and beyond.

“I immediately agreed to star on the cover of the magazine in 2022 and here we are in 2023 having dinner in Harare, all thanks to her. This has been a progressive partnership and I can’t wait to see what the future holds”.

During her stay, Mutale engaged with various women-led groups, participating in discussions, workshops, and events that aim to empower and uplift women in the media. As a media guru in Zambia, Mutale brings her wealth of experience and expertise to the table, sharing insights and knowledge with her counterparts in Zimbabwe.

Through these interactions, she not only shares her own experiences and lessons learned but also learns from the experiences of others, gaining new perspectives and expanding her network.

“My visit to Zimbabwe is going to be one that benefits a lot of people, not just my brand but reach out to more women through partnerships,” said Mwanza.

Mwanza’s visit is already paying off for young women in Zimbabwe and Zambia, with a US$10 million educational fund on the cards through a partnership with Concord for Young Women In Business (CYWB).

CYWB founder Apphia Nyasha Musavengana said the fund will educate and propel careers of women in media and entertainment.

“We want to build a working fund for women in Zambia and Zimbabwe to empower young women in media and arts among the upcoming artists, brand ambassadors, and journalists,” said Musavengana.

“We want to put together a US$10 million fund to assist young women to further their education.”

Musavengana said they were already drafting paperwork.

Back in Zambia, Mutale Mwanza Foundation sponsors two girls studying at the Cavendish University, and sees the partnership as an opportunity to do more.
