The “Headmaster”, as Nyabinde is popularly known, joins the likes of queen of dance Sandra Ndebele, rising dendera star Tryson Chimbetu, man of the moment Jah Prayzah and gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave.
Gabriel Nkazana, the provincial NBSZ chief public relations officer, said Nyabinde was a role model in the province hence the decision to appoint him their brand ambassador.
“We are currently working in schools to encourage pupils to give blood. So, taking along Nyabinde, who has a background in education, will make our cause a major success,” said Nkazana.
Nyabinde said he was aware of the demands of his new role and would work tirelessly. to fulfil his mandate. “Blood is lifesaving and I know I have to encourage the youths to donate blood. I have worked with the youths when I was a headmaster and I will work with them for a good cause,” he said.
Several companies and organisations have realised the power of musicians in promoting their brands and this has seen many musicians signing endorsement deals.
The likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu, Alick Macheso, Charles Charamba, Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima and Winky D among others have all been endorsed in recent months.
Superstar Mtukudzi features on a Boom Washing Powder advert that is being aired on ZBCTV. The grand dad of music is also Unicef goodwill ambassador.
Suluman, who has seen his brand soaring after releasing his hit album, “Syllabus”, has been sought after several deals including the Zimbabwe National Road Administration in an advert that promotes vehicle registration.
There is no end in accolades coming Macheso’s way. He was recently appointed Zimbabwe Red Cross humanitarian ambassador as well as Baker’s Inn brand ambassador.
Tobacco Sales Floor has roped in comedian-cum-musician “Kapfupi” and his wife in their advert.
Gospel power couple Charles and Olivia Charamba were recently appointed road safety ambassadors by the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe. They have since released a video, “Tsaona”, that discourages motorists from driving under the influence.
Stunner and Roki feature on Econet Wireless billboards encouraging people to download their music as ringing tones.
