THE wait is over as the 2026 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) takes over the Gallina Motocross Park in Windhoek, Namibia, this weekend.
Riders from across Africa, including a strong team of top junior and senior riders from Zimbabwe, will line up to represent their countries in one of the continent’s biggest motorcycling events.
The MXoAN is a team championship event, meaning every lap, every position and every point could prove crucial.
Riders score points for their respective countries throughout the weekend, with two highest scores from each country counting towards the overall team result, according to the organisers of this event.
The racing gets faster. The competition gets tougher. At this weekend’s event, Zimbabwe will face some stiff competition from teams representing Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Senegal, Uganda, Zambia and defending champions South Africa.
Team Zimbabwe is heading to the Gallina Motocross Park full of confidence after having been preparing for this prestigious annual motorcycling event since the beginning of the year.
The team features a strong lineup across various classes, including riders like Oneill Shamuyarira and Tait Bruford (50cc Class), Ebenezer Parsell (65cc Class), Victor Nyamupfukudza (85cc Class), Sebastian Wright and William Harrison (MX2 Class), and Riley Rocher (MX1 Class).
The squad aims to build on their strong performance from last year’s championship hosted in Harare, where Zimbabwe finished second overall behind perennial African champions South Africa.
South Africa are the most decorated nation in the history of the competition, regularly taking home the overall team title while Zimbabwe have always been placed second.
All eyes in the Zimbabwean camp in Windhoek this weekend will be on young rider Nyamupfukudza who will be competing in his fifth straight FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship.
The talented 11-year-old racer has represented Zimbabwe in the last four MXoAN in Uganda (2022), South Africa (2023), Morocco (2024) and Zimbabwe (2025).
Nyamupfukudza produced his best performances during the 2023 and 2024 editions of this big continental event in Cape Town, South Africa, and Marrakech, Morocco, respectively.
In August 2023, Nyamupfukudza competed in the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship at the famous Zone 7 track in Cape Town where he raced in the juniors’ 50cc Class.
He helped Team Zimbabwe win a bronze medal in this class and his brilliant performance helped Zimbabwe finish second overall behind South Africa.
