A NYANGA man who raped his granny (78) and inserted an undisclosed amount of money in her private parts and bought her some goodies as a thank you for the one-hour-long sexual romp, has been jailed for 18 years.Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza, on Wednesday this week described the behaviour of the sexual predator, Edmore “Chiwaka” Samakande (33), of Samakande Village under Chief Katetere, in Nyanga “as animalistic”.
He likened the victim to an animal by preying on a close relative. “Such behaviour is only expected of animals.
“Only an animal can have sex with its mother or another related animal. That cannot be expected from a human being,” said Mr Chipadza as he delivered his judgment. Mr Chipadza suspended two years for five years on the usual grounds.
The offence was committed on December 26, 2014 around midnight. Samakande had pleaded not guilty to one count of rape, but was convicted due to overwhelming evidence.
He admitted having visited the complainant’s place earlier that day in the afternoon not in the evening as claimed by the complainant.
Samakande accused his granny of hating and lying to fix him.
Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira prosecuted. Mr Mutyasira led chilling evidence from the complainant, in which she gave graphic details of her sexual ordeal at the hands of Samakande which she described “as the worst she has had in her life as it dragged on for almost an hour”.
