Nyanga will host a cultural festival

From October 27 to 29, the first Zimbabwe Festival of Arts and Culture will take place in Nyanga National Park and Montclair Casino. This is a momentous event not only for cultural workers but also for all residents who are involved in it in one way or another.

The festival is organised by the , a pan-African arts organisation based in Bulawayo. Its mission is to highlight the country’s development policies on several fronts. In addition, Nhimbe Trust plays an important role in the global cultural management of many African countries and participates in the Pan-African Cultural Congress of the African Union, the Civil Society Forum of the UNESCO Convention, and other major events.

The festival’s theme will be “Cultural Heritage Tourism,” showcasing various performing, literary, and visual arts workshops.

After the cultural heritage in Chimanimani was destroyed by Cyclone Idai, many buildings required restoration. With the help of the festival, the plan is to raise the necessary amount of money and send it to help the area.

According to , director of the festival, the event’s main purpose is precisely to preserve this cultural heritage.

“The Nyanga Festival will be important not only in terms of educating the local community and raising money for charity but also in making the town attractive from a tourist point of view,” Josh states.

Representatives of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority also commented on the upcoming festival, noting that they plan to develop external and domestic tourism through it.

“We are delighted that our partners from the Nhimbe Trust have organised such a wonderful festival through which we can show people from Africa and other continents how attractive our National Park is from a tourism point of view,” said Godfrey Koti, a representative of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.

The owners of the hotel and casino Montclair like the idea of the festival because thanks to such an event the inflow of tourists will increase significantly. The fact is that it’s hard for land-based casinos to compete with online platforms that accept Zimbabweans. Especially since, according to , new customers at online casinos are given promo codes for bonuses.

According to Brian Nyakutombwa, casino manager, this is the first time the residents of Nyanga will encounter so many tourists, and some of them will even be welcomed as guests. This will best show our Zimbabwean hospitality and encourage people from other countries to come back to us again.
