Nyikadzino appeals to corporates

From Paul Mundandi in MASVINGO
CHAPUNGU coach John Nyikadzino has urged companies to sponsor football at grassroots level for Zimbabwe to produce talented players needed to help the nation scale lofty heights. Nyikadzino made the plea after conducting a coaching clinic at Mutendi High School. The clinic was facilitated by Chapungu sponsors BancABC.

“I am appealing to corporates to sponsor soccer at grassroots levels. If we catch our players young, surely we can make it to the World Cup finals and can also be a permanent feature at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

“The problem with most of the coaches in this country is that we normally teach 18-year-olds about how to control the ball, the time when we are supposed to be imparting to them tactics to beat opponents” said Nyikadzino

The Chapungu coach and his players held a three-hour coaching clinic at Mutendi High School in Masvingo.

BancABC, who sponsor Dynamos, Highlanders and Chapungu, also presented a branded soccer kit to the school’s girls football team on Wednesday.
